PRESS RELEASE 2024-04-29
– There is a conservatism in the logistics industry that unfortunately acts as an immune system against change. But we cannot afford to delay the transition to sustainable logistics. The complex game between technology, energy and economics needs new rules. That’s where we come in.
Per Olof Arnäs, well-known profile with research background from Chalmers University of Technology and with 35 years experience in transport and logistics, leads the alliance of companies that wants to upgrade transport and logistics systems.
– We focus on smart energy systems, new business models and the technology of the future. At present, we are nine companies that all challenge and lead in their respective segments: Adnavem, AIron, BEV_R, Circumflex, Duva, Ember, InQuire, Sicopa and TruckTrust. But more major players are on their way in, Per Olof Arnäs continues.
According to Per Olof the main challenges are the energy supply that must become more sustainable, the level of technology that must be increased and the business models that are outdated.
– The players in the future transport and logistics system need business models that are adapted to a new normal where fossil free energy, social sustainability and resource efficiency coexist – not compete – with productivity and profitability.
Tony Edmundsson, Managing Director of Bev_R, one of the companies in the Game Changing Alliance, agrees.
– We are working on the transition to freight flows with battery-powered heavy vehicles. Bev_R offers, among other things, a platform that integrates vehicles, has infrastructure for charging and route optimizes in real time. This has not existed before and is a necessary service if Sweden and the Nordic countries are to manage the transition to fossil-free heavy traffic.
The need for knowledge is great out there and another member, Sicopa Consulting, sees great challenges but also opportunities in the transition.
– The market’s expectations of sustainable and efficient solutions, new technologies, digitalisation and fast, safe and resilient solutions require completely new standards, says Charlotte Gabrielson, Managing Partner at Sicopa Consulting.
– As a member of GCA, we have access to a breadth of expertise and knowledge about new technology and with solutions at the forefront so that we can offer our customers solutions for a smarter, more efficient and more sustainable supply chain.
As a start, to accelerate the transition, the Game Changing Alliance will organise seminars and participate in the debate during the Almedalen Week in June.
